India star All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the team India squad for the remaining matches on the ongoing home Test series of India against England.
Jadeja has still not recovered from his thumb injury that forced him to pull out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy midway. The all-rounder took a blow to his left thumb while batting during the third day of the Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) that resulted in a dislocated thumb.
The player went for scans and later consulted a hand specialist in Sydney before flying back to India for his recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
It was expected that Jadeja would recover by the end of the second Test of the four-match series of India versus England and will star in the remaining two Tests at the Motera Stadium in Gujarat. However, the 32-year old still seems to struggle from the injury and will not be able to make himself available for the matches.
“He is out of Test series and he will take more than six weeks to recover completely. The selectors will take a call later, whether to include him in the team for the shorter formats,” a BCCI official had said on Jadeja’s inclusion in the squad before the start of the India versus England Test series.
It remains to be seen whether the player will recover and pass the fitness test for playing in the white-ball series scheduled to take place after the completion of the Test series.
