India vs England 2nd Test Match Preview: Rain played spoilsport as the first Test between India and England ended in a draw. Despite being at the top for the majority of the game, India couldn’t win the game and they would be disappointed because of that. Nevertheless, the confidence would be high as they would be eager to take the field and exhibit another top-class performance in the second Test. Jasprit Bumrah was the best bowler for India in the first game of the Test cricket series. He took as many as nine wickets in the game. He picked four wickets in first India to help India bundle out England for 183.
It was followed by a five-wicket haul in the second innings to deny England of posting a winning total. KL Rahul’s outstanding knock of 84 runs in the first innings would help him secure his place in the playing XI. It means that Mayank Agarwal won’t be making his comeback in the second Test.
Rohit Sharma was guilty of throwing away his starts. He played a solid-looking 36-run knock before getting out to Robinson. The fans would hope that he scores big at Lord’s in the second Test. Fans would also be hoping the same from Virat Kohli. It’s been a while since we have seen the skipper wreaking havoc in an international game.
With Lord’s pitch assisting the spinners, India might be tempted to play Ravichandran Ashwin as the second spinner. He might replace Shardul Thakur in the playing XI for the second Test. The bowling trio of Bumrah, Shami and Siraj did exceedingly well in the first Test. Even if Ishant Sharma gets fit to play the Test cricket, it’s unlikely that he makes it into the eleven.
For England, Moeen Ali has been added to the squad. He will make it into the playing XI in a bid to strengthen their batting unit. Also, he will be equally handy with the ball as well. Joe Root starred with the bat in the last game. With other batsmen not in good form, he will once again be key to England’s fortunes in the second Test. The onus will also be on experienced campaigners in Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow. The duo couldn’t do anything significant with the bat in the last game. They ought to come out well if England fancies their chances in the second Test.
