India vs England Match Preview: India’s tour of England is all set to start from tomorrow as the fans couldn’t get happier. India will face England in the first of the five-match Test series on Wednesday at Trent Bridge.
Ahead of the start of the series, India has suffered from injuries. Mayank Agarwal has been ruled out of the first Test, while Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan have been ruled out of the series. On the other hand, England also has their concerns. Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes would be unavailable due to their respective injuries. Ben Stokes has taken an indefinite break from international cricket, citing mental health issues.
Since the WTC final defeat against New Zealand, there has been a lot of debate over India’s possible eleven for the first Test. Ajinkya Rahane and Chesteshwar Pujara’s low returns for the last couple of years has been a major concern for the team. The duo though is likely to feature in the eleven.
KL Rahul will replace Mayank Agarwal for the opening slot. With swinging conditions on offer, India is likely to come up with four seamers and one spinner. There is likely to be a toss-up between Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, M Shami and M Siraj are likely to be the four-seamers.
On the other hand, England also doesn’t boast of a strong batting lineup. Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, and Jos Buttler are likely to be key to their fortunes. However, the likes of Joe Burns, D Lawrence, and D Sibley also need to take some responsibility.
James Anderson and Stuart Broad should lead the fast bowling attack, while Jack Lean is likely to be the only spinner on the side.
