Chennai Super Kings registered third after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 20 runs in the reverse fixture on Tuesday. Bowlers put up a brilliant show in Dubai International Stadium leading to their second successive win over SRH this season.
It was the first time that CSK got to bat first in the season after MS Dhoni won the toss. This was also the perfect opportunity for the side to change their fortunes and end their winless streak.
CSK sent Sam Curran and Faf du Plessis open the inning in what looked more of an uncanny strategy. Faf du Plessis got out on duck while Curran looked rock-solid at the other end.
Shane Watson (42) and Ambati Rayudu (41) combined together and stitched a partnership of 81 runs for the fourth wicket. Later, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja powered the team to the total of 167/6 at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing the target of 168 runs, SRH lost the wicket of the skipper, David Warner, early in the innings, putting CSK in the commanding position from the powerplay itself.
None other batsman except Kane Williamson who put up a lone gritty show with 57 runs off 39 balls studded with 7 boundaries.
CSK bowlers showed grit in the final few overs, especially DJ Bravo, Karn Sharma and Shardul Thakur taking wickets in their final overs respectively.
Chennai Super Kings pouched two points in the match and now climbed to the 6th place in the team standings.
