A piece of sad news has come out from KKR’s dugout. Nitish Rana has tested positive for Coronavirus ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) opener.
Reports have suggested that the KKR batsman is currently being quarantined in a hotel room in Mumbai. The medical team has kept a close eye on him and looking after his recovery. Nitish Rana joined the squad after spending a family holiday in Goa. He now has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the franchise are yet to give an official update on the matter. Fans would be hoping that Rana recovers fast and joins the team at the earliest.
Nitish Rana is KKR’s prime number three batsman. He has been a vital cog for the franchise over the years. Although the 27-year old exhibited a below-par performance last year, he remains a key element of their batting line-up. KKR finished at the fifth position last year. If the franchise fancies its chances in the upcoming edition, Nitish Rana needs to come up with at least a few match-winning performances when and if he joins the team after his recovery.
The 14th edition of IPL is all set to begin on 9th April 2021. All the teams have begun their preparations as most of the players have joined their respective squads. Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on each other in the opener, while Chennai Super Kings will square up against Delhi Capitals the next day.
