As per the latest reports, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are eyeing George Garton to add to their roster as a replacement for Kane Richardson, who has been ruled out of the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.
On Saturday, the franchises named three players including Wanindu Hasaranga, Tim David, and Dushmantha Chameera as replacements for Adam Zampa, Finn Allen, and Daniel Sams, respectively. RCB is now planning to name George Garton to fill the gap left by Aussie right-arm pacer Kane Richardson. Richardson, who joined the franchise for Rs 4 crore last year, has pulled out of the remaining IPL 2021. He appeared in only one RCB fixture during the first phase of the tournament.
The English left-arm pacer George Garton has been part of 37 T20 games so far and clinched 43 wickets in the format at an average of 19.51. He has also made appearances in 23 First-class matches and 24 List A matches, with 53 wickets and 29 wickets under his belt.
He forms part of The Hundred tournament team Southern Brave’s four-pronged pace attacks and has been phenomenal in the inaugural season of the tournament. In the finals, he opened the bowling attack of the team and conceded on 27 runs in 20 balls while dismissing David Bedingham in the game. His performance explains why he caught the eye of IPL’s one of the most sought-after teams.
The player can prove to be handy with the bat as well. As per reports, the 24-year old is just waiting for approval to break into the tournament.
Meanwhile, although Hasaranga and Chameera have been roped in by the franchise, they are yet to receive approval from Sri Lanka Cricket for participation in the IPL.
