Shane Bond and Trent Boult have arrived in Abu Dabhi to join the Mumbai Indians contingent for the second leg of the IPL 2021. Most of the players of the franchise have already started their preparation for the tournament. The New Zealand duo will undergo a mandatory quarantine before joining the Mumbai Indians contingent.
Mumbai Indians recently shared a post on their Twitter handle to update the New Zealand duo’s arrival. They shared a picture, featuring both Bond and Boult.
“Arrived at an express pace from Welcome home, Boulty and Bondy! #OneFamily #MumbaiIndians #IPL2021 @ShaneBond27,” MI wrote it as the caption.
Shane Bond is Mumbai Indians’ bowling coach. He has been taking the job for quite a few years now. Trent Boult, on the other hand, is one of the prominent speedsters in the MI team. Boult finished with 8 wickets at an average of 27.87 in the first half of the tournament.
Ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, New Zealand have roped in Shane Bond as the team’s bowling coach. Head coach, Gary Stead stated that Bond’s tactical inputs gained from the experience in IPL would help the New Zealand cricket team.
“Shane’s been in our environment before and understands what we’re about. Being in the UAE (with the IPL) immediately prior to the world cup… he’ll hopefully bring some tactical insight into what’s been happening in the competition. He’ll be an extra set of hands, especially around the bowlers, working with the spin and the pace bowlers and developing their plans in a tournament that moves pretty quick – so we need to be one step ahead of other teams,” New Zealand’s head coach said.
