IPL 2021 suspended: After the Covid-19 deadly virus entered the camps of Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, the IPL 2021 was suspended indefinitely on Tuesday.
All the franchise, since, have been toiling hard to ensure all the overseas players reach their respective countries safely. The Royal Challengers Bangalore recently stated that they are in constant touch with the BCCI to ensure that every member of the franchise reaches home safely.
“We worked in consultation with BCCI and the respective cricket boards to ensure the safe return of all our personnel to their homes. There are stringent SOPs put in place by us, for those who are transiting from central hubs to their respective cities,” RCB said in a press release.
“We will be in constant touch with them till they reach home and continue to offer support to our personnel whenever necessary,” it stated.
The franchise have arranged a chartered flight to Auckland to ensure all the New Zealand players reach home safely. On the other hand, the players from South Africa will travel to Johannesburg via via Mumbai and Doha.
“We thank all our players, the support staff and the fans for their immense support this season and wish for their safety and health,” the release stated.
For the domestic players, RCB have arranged a chartered flight to send them to specific pre-identified hubs before reaching their respective states.
Furthermore, the Australian players will stay in a hotel in the Maldives until they leave for Australia when borders get open.
The Times of India reported that the rest of IPL 2021 can be conducted in the UAE or England or Australia. BCCI is also considering allotting a window before the T20 World Cup slated to take place in October-November this year.
