Due to an ankle injury, the under-pressure Chennai Super Kings will be without Moeen Ali for a few more games, but head coach Stephen Fleming is hoping that the England all-rounder will be back in a week. The England all-rounder sustained the injury during a training session on Saturday. He was unable to play in CSK’s 11-run loss to Punjab Kings on Monday. On April 17, he last played in CSK’s three-wicket loss against Gujarat Titans.
“He rolled his ankle; X-rays indicated no fracture, but there is always a seven-day healing period. Given that there is no fracture, we anticipate a rapid recovery,” Fleming remarked at a press conference.
Ali, who was a vital player on the CSK team that won the league last season, has struggled with both the bat and the ball in this season’s version.
While Ali has scored 87 runs at a 17.40 average, including a 48 against the Sunrisers, he has yet to pick up a wicket, giving 68 runs in eight overs. This season, CSK has been plagued by injury, with pacers Deepak Chahar and Adam Milne already ruled out of the tournament.
