Ireland vs WI: Following negative Covid-19 tests, Ireland all-rounders Paul Stirling and Shane Getkate are poised to go to Jamaica and join the rest of the squad. After testing positive for the virus, the duo was forced to return to Florida and self-isolate in a hotel, only days after their ODI series against the USA was cancelled.
After a lengthy delay, Simi Singh and Ben White, who missed the first ODI against West Indies on Saturday after testing positive via a routine antigen test, are still waiting for the results of their RT-PCR tests. Both players might miss the entire series, according to a statement from Cricket Ireland.
Meanwhile, Andy McBrine, who was forced to retire injured after being struck on the head while batting on 34 in the first ODI, will have follow-up tests for a suspected concussion during the following 48 hours. According to the press statement, his symptoms are minor and if he passes his examination on Monday, he will be considered for the second ODI.
Before the T20Is against the USA last month, a number of Ireland players tested positive, prompting the cancellation of the ODI series. After returning negative tests, Andy Balbirnie and McBrine were permitted to join the squad in Jamaica after being declared close connections of Stirling and Getkate and had to isolate.
