Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan made rollicking starts to their T20 international cricket career. Both hit respective half-centuries in their debut T20 international game, announcing their arrival in a sensational fashion.
Former Indian player, VVS Laxman recently spoke highly of both the batsmen and said that both Surya and Ishan deserve to be part of the Indian Cricket Team squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
“Well, it’s a very tough question because what we have seen in this series is that lot of youngsters have capitalised on their opportunities. But the way Ishan Kishan played in his debut innings and then also the way Suryakumar Yadav played, I think both of them will definitely be in my squad of 15. It’s a tough choice, but I think both of them deserve to play in the Indian squad come the World Cup,” Laxman said on Star Sports show Cricket Connected.
India made a lot of changes in their playing XI in the recently concluded T20 series against England in a bid to sort out their ideal XI for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Ishan Kishan was handed his debut cap in the second T20 international. He played a scintillating knock at the Narendra Modi International Stadium, scoring 56 runs off 32 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes. He got cheaply in the following game before getting sidelined in the remaining games due to injury.
Suryakumar Yadav, on the other hand, enjoyed a dream debut in his international cricket. He hit the first ball of his international cricket for a six to Jofra Archer, leaving everyone in awe. The Mumbai Indians batsman went onto play a heart-warming 57-run knock-off 31balls and earned the Man of the Match award. In the following game, he scored a valuable knock of 32 runs off just 17 balls.
