West Indies’ newly appointed ODI skipper Jason Mohammed is all prepped up to lead his side in the forth-coming One Day International series against Bangladesh. During he press conference ahead of the first ODI, Jason spoke about the historical victory of the Indian team against Australia at Brisbane.

Mohammed is himself making a comeback into the ODI team after a gap of over two years, hailed the Indian team for their character and how, despite the absence of big guns on the side, they managed to beat Australia on their turf.

He acknowledged that in such a high-voltage encounter like the Border-Gavaskar series, teams hosting the game are usually the favourites to win the match. But team India defied all the impossibilities and scripted victory that inspired the whole West Indies side, who are currently in Bangladesh for the ODI and Test series, starting January 20.

In this case, Mohammed is relating his side’s situation to that of India’s, and also hopeful of winning both ODI and Test series against Bangladesh.

“It is something that we will look to,” Mohammed said.

“It depends on how you play on the day. Obviously, a lot of the guys will be making their debut. Once you have the belief within yourself and within the team that you can win games, these things are achievable. It showed in the India-Australia Tests. We have the same mindset, to play some good cricket starting tomorrow, and hopefully, results can go on our side as well.” he further added.

For Bangladesh, all rounder Shakib Al Hasan will make a comeback to the national team after serving a ban from international cricket in 2019. The first match of the ODI series will take place at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
