Lahore Qalandars head coach Aaqib Javed has pointed out similarities in Lahore Qalandars to the likes of Indian Premier League teams Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals in the aspect that none of the teams has won a title.
Since the inception of PSL, Lahore has only managed to reach finals once in 2020. Despite having brilliant performers in the team, they have never been able to win a title in the tournament’s history.
The first leg of this year’s edition went well for Lahore, in which they managed to win 5 out of 6 games. However, during the second leg in UAE, they went on to lose four out of five matches.
Speaking with Cricket Pakistan on their YouTube channel, Javed admitted that it was justified for fans to be unhappy with the Lahore Qalandars’ failures.
“It is valid for fans to be unhappy. Sometimes things get stuck, and that has been the case for the last six years. If you look at the Royal Challengers Bangalore, they are such a big team. You have Punjab Kings, and even the Delhi side have changed their name from Delhi Daredevils to Delhi Capitals. These teams haven’t won the IPL in 12 years. Sometimes you get stuck, and I don’t know what’s the reason why some teams do not click,” Aaqib Javed said.
Multan Sultan and Peshawar Zalmi played the final of the 2021 edition of PSL. Mohammad Rizwan and Co. beat Peshawar Zalmi by 47 runs in the summit clash to win the title for the first time in the tournament’s history.
