As per reports, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag will miss a couple of matches ahead of the start of the Legends League Cricket. The first match of the tournament is set to be played today in Oman.
Mohammed Kaif recently revealed that Virender Sehwag won’t be playing a couple of games due to personal reasons. Mohammed Kaif attended a press conference on the eve of the start of the tournament’s opener and gave the update on Virender Sehwag’s availability.
“Sehwag has some personal issues so could not come for the opening match. He may join later, I will lead the Indian side in the first two matches.”
In the absence of Virender Sehwag, Mohammed Kaif will lead the Indian Team. Mohammed Kaif has previously led India’s team in the under-19 World Cup and several other domestic tournaments.
“I have captained in a lot of matches including at the domestic level. I’ve also been a coach, mentor and do commentary now in my involvement with the game for many years. So it will be a lot of fun. Looking forward to it,” Kaif added.
The first match of Legends League Cricket will have Asia Lions take on India Maharajas on 20th January 2022 at Al Amerat Cricket Ground. Every team will play each other twice in a round-robin format and the top two teams will clash in the final on January 29.
