LSG vs GT: A stunning game between Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants resulted in the former winning the game by 5 wickets on Monday at Wankhede Stadium. Lucknow Super Giants batted first and managed to score 158 runs in the first innings.
They didn’t make a great start as the likes of KL Rahul (0), Quinton de Kock (7), Lewis (10), and Manish Pandey (6) all got out on low scores. Mohammed Shami bowled a stunning spell in the powerplay as he took three out of the first four wickets.
However, Deepak Hooda (55) and Ayush Badoni (54) joined hands and made a great recovery. The duo added 87 runs for the fifth wicket and brought the team back into the game. Krunal Pandya also made a valuable contribution of 21 runs in 13 balls.
For Gujarat Titans, Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers. He finished with returns of 3 for 25 runs in 4 overs. Gujarat Titans, too, didn’t make a great start. Shubman Gill departed without troubling the scorers, while Vijay Shankar got back to the hut for 4 runs, thanks to a brilliant bowling display by Chameera.
Mathew Wade (30 off 29) and Hardik Pandya (33 off 28) then stitched a valuable partnership to get the team back into the game. However, neither of them could convert the start into a big knock.
However, later, David Miller (30 off 21), Rahul Tewatia (40 of 24), and Abhinav Manohar (15 off 7) made a significant contribution to help the team reach home with 2 balls remaining in the end. The match kept tilting either way till the last over of the game. In the end, 11 runs were needed in 6 balls.
Debutant, Abhinav Manohar hit two fours, followed by a boundary from Rahul Tewatia to help Gujarat earn their first points in the tournament.
