Delhi Capitals reached the finals of the IPL 2020. They would be determined to reach the summit clash once again and win the title this year. In a bid to bolster the squad, they made two interesting buys in the auctions. Delhi Capitals added two exciting young talents in Manimaran Siddharth and Ripal Patel during the IPL mini-auction on February 18.
Both the guys exhibited heart-warming performances in the 2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. M Siddharth exhibited a match-winning performance in the final of SMAT 2021 for Tamil Nadu. He took 4 for 20 to help his reach register a seven-wicket victory over Baroda. He took 16 wickets in 6 games in the tournament at an average of 6.81.
Gujarat’s Ripal Patel’s too put on a show in the SMAT 2021. He amassed 145 runs in 5 games in the tournament. Both the players are excited to be a part of Delhi Capital’s side and are looking forward to learn from the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting.
“The Delhi Capitals has been a really good team. DC were the runners-up last season. Most of the players in the squad play for their respective international teams. I think it’ll be a very good opportunity for me to learn from great players and I am really eager to play under Shreyas Iyer and coach Ricky Ponting,” Siddharth said in an official release of the franchise.
When asked about how he got to know that he was acquired by the Delhi Capitals, Siddharth said, “I was expecting to be picked in the IPL Auction, but I was really nervous, so I didn’t watch it. A couple of players told me after my Vijay Hazare match that DC had picked me, and I was elated.”
Recently, IPL 2021 is slated to begin on 9th April 2021. Delhi Capitals will play their first game against Chennai Super Kings on 10th April 2021 in Mumbai.
