The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is geared up to appoint Mohammed Yousuf as the permanent batting coach of the national cricket team. Yousuf was recently released from the batting coach role at the National High-Performing Center in Lahore.
Mohammed Yousuf has been one of the most successful batsmen for the Pakistani side. He will likely join Australian batting giant Matthew Hayden who was appointed as the batting consultant ahead of the T-20 World Cup 2021 and will continue to serve till the end of the T-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Yousuf’s departure from NHPC garnered the attention of PCB’s governing council. PCB will soon release the vacancy of the post and expedite the formalities to appoint Yousuf. Yousuf’s addition will be seen as a boost in the Pakistani camp.
Mohammed Yousuf recently praised Abdullah Shafique’s innings against Sri Lanka. He was impressed by the way he single-handedly stood strong at the end and helped Pakistan to anchor a challenging run-chase.
Abdullah Shafique scored an unbeaten knock of 160 runs to take Pakistan through to chase 342 in the first of the two-match test series against Sri Lanka.
Mohammed Yousuf has a varied experience in mastering sports. Yousuf is a legendary batting icon of the game and has also gained an insight into the professional field. He has worked as the batting coach of NHPC and also a franchise at the Pakistan Super League.
In his majestic career for Pakistan, Mohammed Yousuf has been a prolific test and one-day batsman. In over 350+ appearances for Pakistan, Yousuf has scored over 17,000 runs. He holds a record of scoring the most runs in a calendar year for Pakistan in 2006 where he gathered 1,788 runs in the cricketing season.
