Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has roped in England’s limited-overs analyst Nathan Leamon as their strategic analyst ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season.
The English analyst will start working with the franchise to assist in the decision-making process ahead of the IPL 2021 auction that is slated to take place in Chennai on February 18.
As reported by ESPNcricinfo, Nathan Leamon will start working with KKR’s current performance analyst AR Srikkanth.
Leamon will now have to take leave of absence from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for the entire duration of the IPL tournament.
Leamon has been involved with the England cricket since 2009 and has worked closely with Eoin Morgan. Working with the KKR captain for so long may give them quite an advantage in devising strategies for the upcoming season.
When it comes to franchise cricket, Leamon has previously worked in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) where he worked with the Multan Sultans.
KKR has got eight spots to fill in the upcoming auction for the tournament. Two slots are available for overseas players while six for Indian players. KKR let go of Tom Banton and Chris Green during the ‘mini-auction’, the deadline of which was January 20.
KKR has retained its core team for this season including MVPS like Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, and Sunil Narine. The franchise has released five of its players namely, Nikhil Naik, Siddhesh Lad, M Siddharth, Tom Banton, Chris Green, and Harry Gurney.
