In a piece of news that comes as a great relief for the England team, the results of all the tests of the members of the England cricket team has turned out negative.

The latest development has ensured that the Test series between Sri Lanka and England will proceed as planned. The squad will soon begin their training in Hambantota.

England arrived in Sri Lanka on Wednesday, where they underwent a mandatory COVID-19 test at the Hambantota airport, at which time all-rounder Moeen Ali tested positive for the virus, in spite of being asymptomatic.

Ali was then subjected to a self-isolation period of 10 days, which he is currently serving in Hambantota. Chris Woakes, who was found to come in close contact with the all-rounder was also told to self-isolate.

All the members of the England team, including Woakes, underwent another round of coronavirus test on Tuesday morning and have returned with negative results. However, Woakes will continue to remain in self-isolation until he tests negative for the virus one more time. He will then be able to join the squad for training next week.

As of now the series has been decided to take place as planned, however, in view of the fact that the virus can take some days to show signs, the team members will go through another round of test on Thursday.

England and Sri Lanka will lock horns in two Tests, the first one commencing from January 14 and will be played till January 18 in Galle, while the second Test is slated to be played from January 22 to January 26.
