NZ vs NED: New Zealand, who are missing a lot of key players in the squad, have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series against the Netherlands after beating them by 7 wickets in the first ODI on Tuesday at Bay Oval Ground. Netherland batted first and managed to score 202 runs in the first innings.
They made a horrible start to their innings, having lost the first five wickets for just 45 runs on the board. The likes of Myburgh (11), Max O Dowd (4), Vikramjit Singh (19), Bas de Leede (7), and Edwards (1) all got out on low scores.
However, Rippon then stitched hands with Seelaar, and the duo put on a 75-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Rippon scored 67 runs in 97 balls, while Seelaar managed to score 43 runs in 75 balls. Unfortunately, neither of them could convert the start into a big score. In the end, the Netherlands managed to post a below-par score.
Tickner picked four wickets for 50 runs in 10 overs, while Jamieson claimed three for 45 runs in 9.3 overs. Bracewell picked one wicket for 22 runs in 8 overs. New Zealand, chased down the score in 38.3 overs.
Martin Guptill got out for just 2 runs but Henry Nicholls and Will Young ensured New Zealand didn’t lose a wicket thereafter. Henry Nicholls scored 57 runs in 79 balls, a knock which was laced with 3 fours and 1 six. Will Young, on the other hand, went on to score a century. He scored 103 runs in 114 balls, a knock which was laced with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Thanks to those two contributions, New Zealand chased down the score comfortably.
NZ vs NED: New Zealand 204 for 3 (Young 103*, Nicholls 57, Rippon 2-32) beat Netherlands 202 all out (Rippon 67, Seelaar 43, Tickner 4-50) by seven wickets
