India is in a commanding position in the ongoing first Test match between India and England. In reply to England’s 183 in the first innings, India managed to score 278 runs in the second innings. KL Rahul starred with the bat for the team. While wickets kept falling at regular intervals, KL Rahul held firm and guide India to a commanding position. He scored a vital 84-run knock off 214 balls, while Ravindra Jadeja scored 56 runs off 86 balls.
Ahead of the first Test, the fans looked forward to a lot of battles. From Anderson vs Kohli, Bumrah vs Root, from Broad vs Rohit to Shami vs Buttler, there was a lot to look forward to. Amidst all that, another stellar battle emerged between KL Rahul and Ollie Robinson.
A week ago, KL Rahul wasn’t the first-choice opener for the team. He was rather considered a middle-order player for the team. However, injuries to Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill led to KL Rahul making his comeback in the Indian Test Team. The Indian cricketer stood to the expectations and played a phenomenal knock under pressure.
KL Rahul dominated the likes of Anderson, Broad and Robinson. Ollie Robinson enjoying another decent outing in the first Test. He troubled all the Indian batsmen with his accurate line and lengths. However, KL Rahul played him with utmost ease and composure.
Robinson failed to pick his wicket after and at one stage got perturbed. Robinson eventually lost his cool in the 50th over of the innings. On the second delivery of the over, he tried to play a leg glance but missed it as the ball struck his thigh pads. As he ran to complete the run, Robinson slyly gave him a shoulder nudge at the non-striker’s end when the pacer was returning towards his bowling mark.
However, Rahul didn’t make a fuss about that and didn’t allow him to lose his concentration.
