Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) informed that the Pakistan T20I team captain Javeria Khan would not be available for the second match of their ongoing T20I series against Momentum Proteas.
Javeria Khan sustained an injury during a training session ahead of the first T20I and dislocated her index finger, as a result of which, the top-order batsman had to miss out the match on Friday.
“Javeria Khan will miss the second T20I against South Africa today due to the injury in the index finger of her right hand. As such, Aliya Riaz will continue to captain Pakistan,” PCB stated in an official statement.
It was expected that the skipper would recover before the second T20I takes place on Sunday, but that did not happen as she hasn’t shown a full recovery yet.
“The top-order batter has shown improvement but she has not fully recovered from the injury that she sustained during a training session on Thursday,” it added.
In the place of Javeria Khan, batter Aliya Riaz is leading the team. The team played the first of their three-match T20I series against the Proteas on Friday and lost comprehensively by 8 wickets.
The second match of the series will be held on Sunday at the Kingsmead Stadium.
