The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday that the Pakistan team selectors have chosen to stick with the same 17-player squad, that played the first Test from January 26-30 in Karachi, for the second Test against South Africa in Rawalpindi.
The second Test of Pakistan’s two-match home Test series against South Africa will commence from February 4 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
PCB informed that they would announce the playing XI for the match shortly after consultation with the team head coach and the team captain.
The names of the 17-player squad include Openers Abid Ali and Imran Butt, Middle-order batsmen Azhar Ali, Babar Azam (captain), Fawad Alam, and Saud Shakeel, All-rounders Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Wicketkeepers, Mohammad Rizwan (vice-captain) and Sarfaraz Ahmed, Spinners Nauman Ali, Sajid Khan, and Yasir Shah, Fast bowlers Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Tabish Khan.
In the first Test between the two teams, Pakistan emerged victoriously. They clinched the victory by an impressive margin of seven wickets, thereby taking a 1-0 lead in the series under the leadership of the newly-appointed captain, Babar Azam.
The series is the first tour of South Africa to Pakistan in almost one-and-a-half decade as the team hasn’t travelled to the country for any international match since 2009.
