This will be the first time when New Zealand will be touring Pakistan in 18 years. They last visited Pakistan for a five-match ODI series in the year 2003. All the three ODIs will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The first match will be played on 17th September, while the second and third ODI will be played on 19th and 21st September 2021.
The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host all the five T20 internationals of Pakistan vs NZ. The first three games will be played on 25th, 26th and 29th September, while the final two games will be played on 1st and 3rd of October. Earlier, the two teams were scheduled to play three T20 internationals, however, upon the request of the Pakistan Cricket Board, it was later extended to five games. The T20 series will mark as ideal preparation for both sides for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
On the prospect of playing against third-ranked New Zealand team, PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan said:
“Series against a top-ranked side like New Zealand will be a perfect start to a mouth-watering and highly-exciting home season of red and white-ball cricket. The 2019 World Cup finalists, who are also the World Test champions and ranked third in T20Is, will draw tremendous attraction and interest from the local fans, and will reinforce Pakistan’s status as a safe and secure country.”
Also, New Zealand will return to Pakistan to participate in the Test series next year as well.
