PBKS vs GT 2022: Gujarat Titans registered their third win in a row on Friday after beating Punjab Kings by 6 wickets. Liam Livingstone, once again, stole the show with the bat as he played a sensational knock of 64 runs in 27 balls, at a strike rate of 237.
However, once he got out, Gujarat applied brakes to the scoring rate. But, Rahul Chahar’s 14-ball 22, in the end, helped Punjab reach 189 runs in the first innings.
For Gujarat, Rashid Khan starred with the ball. He claimed three wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs. The likes of Hardik Pandya, Shami, and Ferguson picked one wicket each but proved slightly expensive.
Shubman Gill then stole the show in the second innings. He gave the team a sensational start and kept the team in the chase. He played shots all around the ground and pulled the ball really well. Gill scored 96 runs in 59 balls, a knock which was laced with 11 fours and a six. He played a strike rate of 162.71 but, unfortunately, missed out on a hundred by just four runs. Sai Sudharsan gave him valuable support with a 35-run knock of 30 balls. He got out in the 15th over but Hardik Pandya gave a sense of calm with his 27-ball knock in 18 balls.
Rahul Tewatia smacks winning runs for Gujarat
Gujarat were favorites till the 17th over of the second innings. However, Arshdeep Singh then bowled a superb 18th over which led to the requiring rate getting up. Gill got out in the very next over off Rabada and Pandya got run-out on the first ball of the 20th over. Suddenly, the game tilted and 18 runs were needed in the final 5 balls. The equation later came down to 12 runs needed in the final two balls. Punjab Kings were favorites to win the game, at that stage, however, Rahul Tewatia had other ideas. He hit two sixes off two balls to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
