PBKS vs RCB: The third match of the IPL 2022 is slated to be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at DY Patil Sports Academy on Sunday. RCB were brilliant in the league stage matches last year but managed to reach the playoffs as well. However, they went down to KKR in the Eliminator match. Ahead of a new season, they would be keen to lift the elusive title.
RCB have a new captain in Faf du Plessis but Virat Kohli remains an integral part of the team. AB de Villiers, though, will no longer play for the franchise. Thus the onus for scoring the bulk of the runs will be on the shoulders of Virat, du Plessis, and Maxwell.
To give the finishing touches in the latter half of the innings, RCB has put their faith in Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror. It will be interesting to see how they fare this season. Josh Hazlewood will lead the pace attack. He will be supported by great bowlers in Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel. As for the spin, Wanindu Hasaranga will be the one to watch out for.
Facing them are Punjab Kings, who too are looking for their first-ever title in IPL. There is no denying that they have managed to compile an outstanding squad. Mayank Agarwal is their new skipper. He is likely to open the batting with Shikhar Dhawan, while Bairstow might come at three.
Punjab have a brilliant middle-order, comprising the likes of Liam Livingstone, Odean Smith, and Shah Rukh Khan. Kagiso Rabada will lead the pace department. He will receive support from Arshdeep Singh, while the spin bowling duties will be shared by Rahul Chahar and Harpreet Brar.
