The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued the annual women’s cricket calendar, which covers international and domestic cricket, as well as domestic and Sri Lanka and Ireland series and Pakistan’s participation in the Commonwealth and Asian Games this year. After an eight-and-a-half-year hiatus, the board reintroduced the Under-19 domestic tournament.
The Women’s PSL is not on the calendar for this year. According to ESPNcricinfo the PCB is working on a tournament event and has intentions to stage one in March 2023, under the presidency of Ramiz Raja.
The series against Sri Lanka, which was postponed last year due to a change in leadership in the PCB, is now set to take place from May 18 to June 7. The series is part of the ICC Women’s Championship cycle. Following that, Pakistan will pay a visit to Ireland in July as part of a triangular series that will also involve Australia as a third party.
This will be promptly followed by the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in July-August. Pakistan will go to Hangzhou, China, in September for the 2022 Asian Games before coming home for the ODI series and a three-T20I series against Ireland in October-November.
The year is coming to a close with the Women’s T20 Asia Cup, which is set to take place in December, though additional details have yet to be released.
The T20 Women’s World Cup will be held in South Africa in February 2023, and Pakistan’s preparations will be completed with a tour to Australia from January 4 to February 1, which will comprise three ODIs and three T20Is. The yearly calendar, which is the first to incorporate women’s cricket, comprises a home circuit strategy.
Due to policy changes and leadership changes in the PCB, the national youth level tournament was dissolved in 2013. Prior to then, there was a national Under 17 tournament from 2004 to 2008, which was replaced with a regional Under-19 competition from 2009 to 2013.
