The tense political weather in Pakistan’s capital might lead to Pakistan Cricket Broad (PCB) shifting the white-ball series out of Rawalpindi. As per reports, the series is likely to be relocated to Lahore. Given the fact that both Rawalpindi and Islamabad United will be the focal point of political gatherings, the white series is likely to be shifted to Lahore. As per the existing schedule, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is set to host three ODIs and one-off T20I.
PCB is actively monitoring the entire situation and also has a contingency plan in place. They will make a final decision soon. The recently concluded second Test match between Pakistan and Australia resulted in a draw, thanks to the heroics of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.
Australia batted in the first innings and notched a big total of 556 runs in the first innings. Pakistan, in reply, were bundled out for 148 runs. Despite gaining a massive lead, Australia opted to bat again and declared their innings at 97 for 2. Australia was the favourite to win the game, at that stage.
However, sensational knocks from Babar Azam, Abdullah Shafique, and M Rizwan helped Pakistan save the Test match in Karachi. Babar Azam led the way with the bat as he played a sensational knock of 196 runs in 425 balls. Besides, Abdullah Shafique (96) and M Rizwan (104) also made vital contributions with the bat.
Australia is touring Pakistan for their first tour in 24 years. The team came into the series on the back of a morale-boosting 4-0 win over England. The third and final Test match of the ongoing series is scheduled to be played from 21st March to 25th March 2022.
