The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed a quadrangular series involving Pakistan, India, Australia, and England. The proposal to play a single league tournament will be presented next week. The meeting will be held in Dubai about the same. If this league happens this will generate a lot of revenue for ICC and respective cricket boards. India Pakistan who is arch-rivals will be seen playing against each other which is always a hot topic. Now for years, the neighbors have not played any bilateral series due to political reasons.
This league was initially proposed by Pakistan as the Pakistan Cricket Board will get hugely benefitted from this. Board projection is as much as USD 650 million in revenue for the 4 cricket boards as well as the main body council ICC (International cricket council)
From the fan’s perspective, this is a treat for cricket lovers as they can see quality cricket and see their favorite players in action. The most anticipated match is classic India Vs Pakistan. The window available is of September October to play this league which will consist of 6 league games and playoffs in a window of two weeks.
PCB chairman Ramiz Raja who was a popular cricket analyst before this job said this league is not to undermine any ICC events but to add another action-packed league for the fans. The main obstacle will be India and Pakistan sharing fields due to various political reasons. The last bilateral between the arch-rivals was in the year 2012-13. After that, they only play in ICC tournaments and that match is always the talk of the town.
Now it is up to ICC and the cricket boards to decide and agree to the proposal made by Ramiz Raza the chairman of PCB. Another obstacle can be the tight schedule of Indian cricketers. The Indian cricket team has enough on their plate always and BCCI will also consider the workload on their players as players have also complained that quarantine takes a toll on their mental health.
