Perth Scorchers on Friday confirmed the signing of the star England batsman Jason Roy for the upcoming 10th edition of the Big Bash League.
Roy will join his teammates Liam Livingstone and Josh Inglis to form the sturdy top-batting lineup in the Scorchers in the tournament.
This year several England players have been roped in by the BBL franchises including Dawid Malan by the Hobart Hurricanes, Jofra Archer and Tom Banton (Brisbane Heat)
Other players joining the league are Tom Curran (Sydney Sixers) and Alex Hales will join his old team Sydney Thunder.
The Big Bash League is set to begin from December 3 but before that, England team will travel to South Africa for the white-ball series starting from November 27.
The series will comprise of both the T20Is and ODI series that will take place between November 27-December 9. The players who will be the part of the England team will join their BBL teams immediately after the completion of the series against South Africa.
Jason Roy was not impressive in the ODI series against Ireland and Australia, neither could he score runs with his bat. He also missed out on the T20I series against Pakistan and Australia owing to his injury.
“The Scorchers squad looks very strong, I’m excited to be joining the club,” Roy said.
He was unable to join his IPL team Delhi Capitals due to his injury instead pulled out of the tournament. Now he is all set to play for the Perth Scorchers in BBL 10.
“I’ve heard the environment of the club is awesome and that it’s a place where everyone wants to help get the best out of each other,” he added.
