As per reports, three Indian players namely Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav and Jayant Yadav are set to join the India team in England for the upcoming five-match Test series. The trio would replace the likes of Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar, who have been ruled out of the Test series due to respective injuries.
Shubman Gill has already come to India after suffering from a shin injury. Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan suffered finger injuries during the practice games and would come home shortly.
Earlier, after Shubman Gill got ruled out of the series, the team management requested the BCCI to send Prithvi Shaw to England as a replacement. However, with Mayank Agarwal and Abhimanyu Easwaran already in the squad, the BCCI turned down their request.
However, with three players getting injured, the selection committee led by Chetan Sharma has decided to send Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav and Jayant Yadav to England. While Shaw would be replacing Shubman Gill, Surykumar Yadav has been included in a big to strengthen their middle order. Ajinkya Rahane has been suffering from a hamstring injury and Suryakumar might replace him if need be.
With Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel already in the squad, Jayant Yadav has only been included as a back-up in the squad. BCCI is currently making plans to fly the trio to England after the Sri Lanka series ends on July 29.
