Peshawar Zalmi put on an impressive performance with both bat and ball to help the team register their second win of the PSL 2022 tournament. The Zalmis batted first and managed to post a 173-run total in the first innings. Hazrattulah Zazai gave the team a wonderful start with the bat as he smashed 41 runs in 27 deliveries. Kamran Akmal too played a 21-run cameo off 19 deliveries.
Haider Ali, however, was finding it tough to time the ball as he scored only 16 runs in 21 deliveries. However, it was Shoaib Malik, who produced an outstanding half-century in just 28 deliveries to help the team get a competitive score on the board. Ben Cutting gave him good support as he made 24 runs in 22 deliveries.
For Karachi Kings, U Asif was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 3 wickets for 40 runs in 4 overs. However, the other bowlers failed to make an impact with the ball.
In pursuit of that score, Karachi Kings got off to the worst possible start as Sharjeel Khan and S Farhan went for ducks. However, Babar Azam held firm at one end but was finding it hard to time bowl properly. It was Ian Cockbain, who injected some momentum into the innings. He scored 31 runs in just 19 deliveries but couldn’t go on to score big.
Babar Azam then opened his arms and took the team as close to the total as possible. The Karachi Kings skipper made 90 runs in just 63 deliveries, an innings that was laced with 12 fours and 1 six. However, he didn’t get any support from the other end and, in the end, Karachi fell 9 runs short of the target.
