The 15th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 will have Quetta Gladiators take on Lahore Qalandars on Monday at National Stadium in Karachi. The Quetta Gladiators haven’t had an ideal start to the tournament. In 4 matches, they have emerged victorious only on one occasion. They are coming into this game on the back of a 43-run defeat at the hands of Islamabad United.
The latter put on an exhibition of boundaries as they notched a mammoth score of 229 runs in the first innings. Barring Nawaz (2 for 32), all the other bowlers conceded more than 10 runs an over. In reply, Quetta Gladiators were bowled out for 186 runs, thereby falling 43 runs short of the target. Ahsan Ali scored a vital half-century, however, he found little support from the other end.
Later, M Nawaz and James Faulkner scored 47 and 30 respectively but the middle-order failed to hit the straps. Ahead of their next game on Monday, they would look to improve on all facets of the game. Jason Roy is also likely to play his first game of the season and this should come as a big boost to the Gladiators.
Facing them are Lahore Qalandars, who have been nothing short of sensational this season. In 4 matches, they have managed to win 3 and thus are sitting at third on the table. Riding on impressive knocks from Fakhar Zaman, Shafique and Harry Brook, Lahore Qalandars notched a 174-run total in their last game against Islamabad United.
The bowling unit later put on a combined effort to restrict the opposition to 166 runs in the second innings. Shaheen Afridi (1 for 24), Zaman Khan (1 for 29) and Rashid Khan (1 for 21) all made great returns with the ball.
