Pakistan Premier League (PSL) franchise Islamabad United has appointed former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal as their assistant coach. They made the announcement on their official Twitter handle.
Ajmal, a renowned player of the Pakistan national team, has represented the team previously in the first edition of PSL. He has also mentored the team in the third edition of the tournament. He announced his retirement in 2017 from all forms of the game after an illustrious career of seven years.
Saeed Ajmal expressed his gratitude to the Islamabad United for his appointment as the spin bowling coach of the team. He wrote, “Thank you @IsbUnited. It is a huge honour for me to be part of #ISLU’s as an assistant coach. A franchise which not only provides a platform to young cricketers but also young coaches to learn and progress. Looking forward to #PSL6.”
Without introtuding any expansion of the teams, PSL 2021, the sixth edition of the tournament, will involve the competition between the current six teams. No final date has been announced for the 2021 edition of the tournament. However, it was earlier indicated that the league may get rolling in February and played till the first week of March.
