Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin revealed what conversation he had with the head coach Ricky Ponting on Mankading. Ashwin is currently in the UAE with the Delhi Capitals squad preparing for the upcoming edition of the IPL.
A few days back, head coach Ricky Ponting had brought up the incident of Mankading involving Ashwin and Jos Buttler. Ponting said that he wouldn’t want Ashwin to repeat it again and in case he does he would have an “interesting chat” with him.
But now Ashwin said that Ponting is yet to reach Dubai and the two have not spoken to each other so far.
“Ricky Ponting hasn’t yet reached (Dubai). After he comes, we will sit for a chat with him. He said he wants to have a conversation. We have already talked over the phone. It was a very interesting chat,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
“What happens sometimes is Australians’ messages in English get lost in translation and reach us with a different meaning. Even some of their jokes become news. That’s what it is and next week I will reveal a bit more about my conversation with Ricky.” Ashwin further said.
Last year, Ashwin ran out the wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler in the non-striker’s end and that incident, the off-spinner received mixed reactions. Many game pundits went on to call it against the “spirit of the game”.
