Ravindra Jadeja is out of the IPL for the rest of the season. On Wednesday, the India all-rounder was released from the Chennai Super Kings’ squad due to his rib injury. (May 11).
“He has a rib injury that he suffered during our match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (on May 04). We just have two games remaining, and we didn’t want him to risk more injury because of his strong foreign commitments,” Kasi Viswanathan, the franchise’s CEO, stated.
According to a CSK official, Jadeja, who was relieved of his captaincy midway through the season after a string of losses, was suffering from rib pain.
“He was in agony when bowling and batting, so we decided to give him some rest, and we told the BCCI as well,” Viswanathan added.
Last Sunday, Jadeja was unavailable for CSK’s match against Delhi Capitals (May 8). On Thursday, CSK will play Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium (May 12). On May 15, they play Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede, while their season concludes on May 12 with a match against Rajasthan Royals.
Meanwhile, it’s been reported that the national team management had no previous knowledge of the ailment, which adds to the uncertainty surrounding Jadeja’s withdrawal from the bubble. Even the national selectors, who had been informed of the injury, appeared to be unaware of it. Chetan Sharma, the chief selector, did not react to a question.
Jadeja who was average in the IPL season 2022 was retained by CSK and team management had huge expectations from the southpaw In every department. He would hope that he gets fit before the South Africa series which will start immediately after IPL. Also, he would hope to get selected after the likes of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzi Chahal performed exceptionally well in IPL.
