RCB vs DC: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) returned to winning ways after beating Delhi Capitals by 16 runs on Saturday at the Wankhede Stadium. RCB have now four wins to his name in 6 games and thus is sitting at the third position on the points table.
Royal Challengers Bangalore, once again, didn’t make a great start with the bat. Both the openers went back to the hut inside the first three overs. Virat Kohli, unfortunately, got run out for the second time on Saturday. However, Glenn Maxwell then led some recovery with a vital knock of 55 runs in 34 balls. He eventually got out in the 12th over off Kuldeep Yadav. And from there on, Dinesh Karthik took the matters into his hands.
He played a sensational unbeaten knock of 66 runs in 34 balls, including five fours and five sixes. Shahbaz Ahmed gave him valuable support, scoring 32 runs in 21 balls. Thanks to those contributions, Royal Challengers Bangalore, eventually, managed to notch a formidable score of 189 runs in the first innings.
For Delhi Capitals, Shardul Thakur returned with great figures, however, they couldn’t bowl well collectively. In reply, Prithvi Shaw got out in the fifth over after looking good for a brief period. David Warner, however, scored another sensational knock of 66 runs in 38 balls but couldn’t stay till the end.
Playing his first game, Mitchell Marsh struggled to score runs as he could only score 14 runs in 24 balls. Rovman Powell got out on the very first ball of his innings and Delhi, as a result, lost four wickets for just 1112 runs. Rishabh Pant, however, kept Delhi’s hopes alive as he kept scoring boundaries at regular intervals. However, he too got out after scoring a good-looking knock of 34 runs in 17 balls.
Once Pant got out, it was all but over for Delhi thereafter. In the end, the Capitals fell 16 runs short of the target.
