RCB vs MI: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered their third win in the IPL 2022 after beating Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets on Saturday at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Mumbai Indians, once again, put in a dismal performance with the bat. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan started off well and added 50 runs in the first six overs.
However, the MI skipper lost his wicket just after the powerplay and it led to a batting collapse. Rohit Sharma scored 26 runs in 15 balls. In the space of the next four overs, MI lost the likes of Brevis, Kishan, Tilak Varma, and Pollard to leave the team reeling at 62 for 5 at halfway stage of the mark.
However, Suryakumar Yadav then produced a sensational knock to revive Mumbai Indians’ innings. Suryakumar Yadav notched 68 runs in 37 balls, a knock which was laced with 5 fours and 6 sixes. His knock helped the team reach 151 runs in the first innings. For RCB, Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel both picked two wickets each, producing sensational spells.
RCB, in reply, started off wonderfully. Faf du Plessis though got out early, but Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli produced a match-defining partnership. Anuj Rawat produced a match-winning knock of 66 runs in 47 balls, including 2 fours and 6 sixes. Virat Kohli too found his form and produced a handy knock of 48 runs in 36 balls. Thanks to their valuable contributions, RCB chased down the score pretty easily in 18.3 overs.
Mumbai Indians have now lost four matches in a row and thus are languishing at second from the bottom of the table. MI are slated to play their next game against Punjab Kings at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Wednesday.
