After winning the first game against Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore now awaits to win their second game as they prep to face SRH on Wednesday.
RCB’s first game was a proper thriller as it witnessed a final over mix-up propelling a nail-biting final ball finish. AB de Villiers was indeed the star of the game for his 27-ball 48 runs. Skipper Virat Kohli too showed aggression with the bat as he opened the batting for the side.
He was accompanied by Washington Sundar who didn’t look comfortable on the other end. He was made to open the innings as the regular opener Devdutt Padikkal was not available for the game.
However, RCB director Mike Hesson affirmed that Padikkal is likely to play in the side’s second game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday.
“Devdutt Padikkal has come back very well, he would be completely fit, so he will be considered for the game against Sun Risers, and he will most likely play. Finn Allen has come out of quarantine and he looks great, we would have Zampa and Richardson back in the next game too, they will come out on game day, ” Hesson said in a video posted on the official Twitter account by RCB. Padikkal was the find of the previous season of IPL as he sealed his position as the opener following his magnificent campaign in which aggregated 473 runs in 15 matches he played for the side.
“Look, we are very happy with the start we had, I think we deserved to win the game against the Mumbai Indians. We did a lot of hard work, I guess we just wanted to finish the game against Mumbai two or three fewer wickets, it was a great partnership between Virat and Maxwell. When we look back at the game, we have some little areas to improve in and that’s great. We did a lot of things really well, obviously with the ball and with a couple in the middle, ” said head coach Simon Katich.
The match between RCB and SRH will begin from 7:30 PM (IST) onwards. Read the full match preview here.
