Three wickets were taken by Simon Harmer with the help of which South Africa had a massive win of 220 runs over Bangladesh to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Bangladesh, who played efficiently in the first innings, saw their wickets fall like a flurry of cards as the hosts wrapped up the game 55 minutes into the opening session.
Bangladesh was bowled out at just 53 runs in their second innings, making it their second-lowest total in test history. On the fifth day that resumed at 11/3, Bangladesh batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim was sent off at the very first over of the day.
After winning the toss the Bangladeshi skipper asked the South African team to bat first. South African batter was patient with the bat and scored a huge total of 367 runs. The pick of the batter is Temba Bavuma. Temba made 93 runs crucial runs and was supported by the skipper who scored 67 runs. Bangladeshi bowlers were good with the bowl but could not restrict the South African team below the par score. Khaled Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan were top bowlers fro Bangladesh team in the first innings who took 4 and 3 wickets respectively.
In response, the Bangladeshi batter got a decent score against the furious bowling lineup of South Africa. Bangladeshi opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy was brilliant with the bat scoring 137 runs. Bangladesh made scored 298 runs in the second innings and was still in the game but of no use at the end.
