SA vs IRE 2nd T20I: South Africa won the T20 series against Ireland after registering a 44-run win in the second T20 international in Bristol. Batting first, South Africa piled up a formidable score of 182 runs in the first innings.
R Hendricks gave the team a decent start with a 42-run knock of 40 deliveries. But the likes of Quinton de Kock (7 off 10) and Van der Dussen (4 off 14) struggled to hit the straps. Aiden Markram then played a stellar cameo of 27 off 10 just balls and South Africa would have scored a lot more had he spent a little more time at the crease.
South Africa scored runs at a brisk pace in the second half of the innings, thanks to significant contributions from the likes of Klaasen (39 off 16) and Miller (34 off 20). As for Ireland, all the bowlers picked at least one wicket, while Delany returned with 2 wickets.
In pursuit of the run-chase, Ireland was restricted to just 138 runs in the second innings. Sterling, once again, looked good for his 16-ball 28 but couldn’t convert that start into a big score. The likes of Bilbirnie (0) and Tucker (0) couldn’t even open their account.
Harry Tector kept some hopes alive with a 31-ball 34 but lacked support from the other end. Ireland kept losing wickets at regular intervals and never stitch partnerships. For South Africa, Parnell starred with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs, while Pretorius also returned with impressive figures of 3 for 33 in 3.5 overs.
With that win, South Africa whitewashed Ireland, winning the series by a 2-0 margin.
