Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has appointed former Indian all-rounder Sanjay Bangar as their new batting consultant ahead of the IPL 2021 auction.
Sanjay Bangar has a rich experience of coaching as the former Indian cricketer has mentored the India national team as their assistant and head coach between 2014 and 2019 and holds the credit for the improvement of the team players.
He has previously worked in as the coach of the Kings XI Punjab for three season, i.e. 2014, 2015, and 2016.
Elated on Bangar’s appointment, RCB’s Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson said, “Delighted to add a Coach of Sanjay Bangar’s experience to our existing coaching team led by Head Coach Simon Katich.”
Australian coach Simon Katich has been serving has the RCB Head Coach since 2019.
“Sanjay Bangar’s role as Batting Consultant will include working with our existing squad in camps in Bengaluru leading up to our Full Squad Pre-IPL Camp.
“We are very fortunate at RCB to now have Sanjay join Sriram and Simon as batting coaches who can offer superb knowledge and experience to our playing squad throughout the IPL,” Mike added.
“I would like to thank Mike (Hesson), Simon (Katich), Virat (Kohli) and the RCB management for reposing faith in me and roping me in as a batting consultant for RCB,” Bangar said on joining the franchise.
“I will try my utmost to pass on the experience that I gained over the years, and help achieve the potential of the team… and help achieve the long-cherished goals of RCB as a franchise,” he added.
