Momentum Proteas fast-medium bowler Shabnim Ismail has acquired the second spot in the ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings after her stunning stint in Pakistan’s tour of South Africa.
Shabnim Ismail, who played three ODIs and two T20Is against Pakistan, clinched seven wickets and five wickets in both the series respectively. She also entered into the list of the top four players to take 100 wickets in Women T20I.
Shabnim took a five-wicket haul in the second T20I against South Africa in Durban, playing an instrumental role in helping the hosts win the series by 2-1. In the second match of the three-match T20I series, Ismail became the fourth player to take 100 wickets in the Women Twenty20 Internationals.
Shabnim has also managed to become one of the nominees for the newly launched ICC Player of the Month for the month of January.
Moving up one rank, Ismail surpassed Australia’s Megan Schutt to take over the second rank. Megan Schutt now ranks third in the ICC WT20I bowlers rankings. Ismail has gained 764 points.
Ismail’s teammate Marizzane Kapp also made a decent advancement by moving up to the 32nd position among bowlers by gaining 14 slots after dismissing four wickets in the series. She is also one of the three nominees of the ICC Player of the Month January
Sophie Ecclestone still rests on the top spot of the bowlers rankings with 777 points.
