Sri Lankan national cricketer Shehan Jayasuriya has announced that he is quitting playing for Sri Lanka and will no longer be available for either domestic or international cricket. The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) revealed the news on Friday.

“National player Shehan Jayasuriya, who represented Sri Lanka in both ODIs and T20I formats have informed SLC, that he will no longer be available for the selection of domestic or international cricket tournaments with immediate effect,” SLC informed in an official release.

Jayasuriya has decided to terminate playing for the country as, he, along with his family, is emigrating to the United States of America.

“Jayasuriya has taken this decision, as he has decided to relocate to the United States of America with his family to settle in that country. 

“SLC whilst thanking Jayasuriya for the services he has rendered to Sri Lanka Cricket as a player, take this opportunity to wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” SLC added.

Shehan Jayasuriya made his international debut against West Indies in 2015. He has played 12 ODIs and 18 T20Is for the national side. The batting all-rounder has amassed 185 runs in the ODIs at a strike-rate of 71.43, while he has registered 241 runs in the T20Is at a strike-rate of 108.56. He has also picked up 3 wickets each in those matches.
