Cricket South Africa has confirmed that they will be touring Sri Lanka in September for a white-ball series. The Proteas will play three ODIs and as many as T20Is, starting from 2nd September 2021 at the R Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo.
The three ODIs will be played on 2nd, 4th and 7th September, while the remaining T20 internationals will be played on 10th, 12 and 14th September. All the games will be played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The series will be completed five days prior to the start of the second phase of Indian Premier League 2021. The South Africa Men’s team went to Sri Lanka last time for a white-ball series back in 2018. The Island nation won the series 3-2 and also won the one-off T20 game.
“We are delighted to have another tour confirmed for the Proteas men’s team with the ICC T20 World Cup just around the corner,” commented CSA Acting CEO Pholetsi Moseki in an official statement.
“Playing against quality opposition in the sub-continent is the best way for our team to prepare for this event and we are grateful to Sri Lanka Cricket for accommodating us during this time of the year where schedules are highly condensed,” he added.
Further talking about the tour, he said: “With an ICC white-ball world event in each year of the next three, game time is golden for every team and we are looking forward to watching our team play as they continue to add to the building blocks of their 2021 T20 World Cup preparation.”
Sri Lanka would be a lot more confident facing South Africa. They registered a T20 series win 2-1 against India after winning the final game on Friday.
