SRH vs CSK: Chennai Super Kings will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 46th match of the Indian T20 League on Sunday at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Chennai Super Kings haven’t had an ideal season this year. They are currently languishing at second from the bottom of the table, having managed to secure 2 wins in 8 matches.
Chennai is coming into this game on the back of an 11-run defeat over Punjab Kings. Batting first, Punjab Kings scored 187 runs in the first innings. Chennai had a forgettable day with the ball. Dwayne Bravo was the only bowler who managed to pick 2 wickets but went for 42 runs in 4 overs. In reply, Chennai was restricted to 176 runs in the second innings.
Ruturaj Gaikwad made a decent start but he failed to convert the start into a big score. He made 30 runs in 27 balls. It was Ambati Rayudu who kept the hopes alive and kept the team in the chase. He played a sensational knock of 78 runs in 39 balls, including 7 fours and 6 sixes.
However, once he got out, the required rate got out of the hands and, in the end, Chennai fell 11 runs short of the target. Heading into the next game, Chennai Super Kings would be looking to register their third win of the season.
On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad is playing some really good cricket. Though, they suffered a 5-wicket defeat at the hands of Gujarat Titans in their last match. Batting first, SRH managed to score a formidable score of 195 runs in the first innings. Abhishek Sharma played a brilliant knock of 65 runs in 42 balls, while Aiden Markram played another stellar knock of 56 runs in 40 balls. However, Kane Williamson’s form is still a cause of concern.
Despite posting such a huge score, SRH failed to defend the total. Barring Umran Malik, who picked a five-for, none of the bowlers could make an impact with the ball. The bowling unit would be looking to exhibit improved performance in the next game.
