SRH vs GT: After suffering two consecutive defeats Sunrisers Hyderabad are bouncing back brilliantly. Kane Williamson-led side registered their second consecutive win against Gujarat Titans by 8 wickets. SRH restricted Gujarat Titans to 162 runs in the first innings, thanks to their collective bowling effort.
Gujarat didn’t get a great start with the bat, losing the first three wickets for just 64 runs inside 8 overs. They could have got out for a total well below 120, but Hardik Pandya played a well-compiled knock of 50 runs in 42 balls. Abhinav Manohar also gave him valuable support of 35 runs in 21 balls.
Gujarat Titans, as a result of that, reached 162 runs in the first innings. For Hyderabad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan both picked two wickets each, while Umran Malik and Jansen picked one apiece.
In reply, SRH, once again, made a solid start. Openers, Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma gave the team an ideal start. The duo added 64 runs for the opening wicket before Sharma got out for 42 off 32 balls. Williamson played a valuable knock of 57 runs in 46 balls.
Pooran later played an unbeaten 18-ball 34 to guide the team home in 19.1 overs. For Gujarat, the likes of Hardik Pandya (1 for 27) and Rashid Khan (1 for 28) once again made great returns but Ferguson yet again couldn’t pick wickets. Gujarat was guilty of not picking wickets early in the power play and, as a result, lost their first game in the tournament.
With that defeat, Gujarat has now slipped to number 5 on the points table, while Sunrisers Hyderabad is gaining momentum.
