SRH vs RR: Sunrisers Hyderabad didn’t make a great start to their IPL 2022 campaign on Tuesday, March 29. Chasing a mammoth score of the 210-run total, Sunrisers Hyderbad could only manage to score 149 runs, thereby losing the game by 61 runs. Skipper Kane Williamson got out early for just 2 runs off 7 balls, while the likes of Rahul Tripathi and Nicholas Pooran went back to the hut without even opening their accounts.
SRH lost half of their side for just 37 runs. Aiden Markram (57 off 41) and Washington Sundar (40 off 14) made useful contributions only to delay the inevitable.
Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, had a great outing with the ball. Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult started wonderfully. Both of them picked two wickets each but it was Yuzvendra Chahal who was the pick of the bowlers. He returned with figures of 3 for 22 runs in 4 overs.
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals notched a mammoth total of 210 runs on the board in the first innings. Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave the team a solid start as the duo added 58 runs in the power play. Jaiswal, however, got out after scoring 20 runs in 16 balls, while Buttler made 35 off 28 deliveries.
Sanju Samson capitalized on the start brilliantly and kept the momentum going in RR’s favour. He scored 55 runs in just 27 balls, a knock which was laced with 3 fours and 5 sixes. He received adequate support from Devdutt Padikkal, who managed to score 41 runs in 29 balls. Later, Shimron Hetmyer played a superb 13-ball 32-run cameo to take the team to a mammoth 210-run total.
Much like their batting, SRH had a bad outing with the ball as well. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the only bowler who went for less than 8 runs an over. He finished with returns of 1 for 29 in 4 overs. The likes of Umran Malik and T Natarajan picked two wickets each but both went for plenty of runs.
