Sunrisers Hyderabad may have won today’s match against the Chennai Super Kings but also suffered a setback due to an injury scare.
This time, Sunrisers bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar sustained an injury during the 19th over of the inning in CSK’s chase. The 30-year-old looked in a good rhythm in the match and also removed CSK opener Shane Watson as his first wicket.
With over 44 runs required off last 12 balls, Bhuvneshwar came in to bowl his final over. After bowling his first delivery, he stumbled during the run-up of the second ball and later left the ground as he struggled to even walk.
Team physio Evan Speechly helped Bhuvi leave the ground and also informed he wouldn’t bowl the rest of the over. Khaleel Ahmed completed the rest of the over while Abdul Samad bowled the final over and SRH won the match by 7 runs.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been struggling with spells of injuries from the past one year after he sustained sports hernia after T20I series against West Indies.
Before that, the medium pacer spent most of the time in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after recovering from his injury.
As of now, it is still not yet clear if Bhuvneshwar will play in the next game or not, it still remains a matter of concern. The side had already suffered a setback after the all-rounder Mitchell Marsh left the IPL after ankle injury.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will next face Mumbai Indians in Sharjah Cricket Ground on Sunday.
