Former Indian Cricketer, VVS Laxman has labelled Suryakumar Yadav as a perfect role model for the youngsters, especially in India. Suryakumar Yadav, along with his family, was reduced to tears after the Mumbai Indians batsman was added to India’s squad for the upcoming T20 series against England, beginning this Friday.
VVS Laxman hailed Suryakumar Yadav for scoring runs consistently in domestic cricket and exhibiting patience. Speaking at Star Sports show, Laxman said:
“He (Surya) deserves it, I think he is a great role model for youngsters, especially in India; because they lose patience very quickly – because all positive run-getters in first-class cricket expect to get into the Indian team – but it is difficult,” Laxman said.
Suryakumar Yadav was overlooked in India’s white-ball series against Australia. A lot of questions were being raised at the selectors for not selecting the Mumbai cricketer despite putting in consistent performances with the bat.
Suryakumar Yadav has been in sublime form of late. He enjoyed a stellar IPL 2020 season, scoring 480 runs in 16 matches at an average of 30.20. It remains to be seen if he would get a chance to feature in the playing XI in the 5-match T20 series against England.
